The ability to sort posts that mention jobs unfortunately is no longer available on LinkedIn as of 6/25/24.
Sorry to hear that. It seems like no matter what we try to show, it’s changed by the next week! Ugh!!!
Can you give me 15 questions
You nailed some great traction points here Andy! I really loved it. Working sessions are a great thing. They take a bit of practice within disciplined method to ensure they don't go off track ( referencing the ones I've run, only:). Have seen MC Pros do them admirably. Have you a video on how to run them? I've searched and searched and couldn't find one.
Ian, the best way to run a working session for this purpose would literally be to ask them the questions in the order I show in this video. What so you want to happen? What's the problem? What have you tried? etc. etc.!
Very helpful, thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it Joyce!
It’s not a gift searching for a job in this economy. Especially when you’re hungry. But thanks for the positivity I guess
Tony, hang in there. It’s not a gift in the happiness sort of way, but as long as you need to go through this, I want you to make sure you get value out of the experience. If you look at it that way, it’s likely you’ll have better luck!
I was hired as a cdl driver in an industry I have zero back knowledge in and just about to reach my 2 years in and carry a massive role not just a driver.. I do e erything from running the store front with the crew to back office logistics and paperwork ALL roles I do and only get compensated for my cdl position, i was asked this past week if I was still interested In joining the account managment side to manage one very large account that needs it's own dedication account manager they do not have a position for it but need to make one . I'm feeling self doubt but clearly I've stuck out enough for them to ask me😅 I don't know what the compensation for that would be or how to negotiate that not having account managing experience but I do have so so much to offer and have carried a large role that wasnt expected from the past 2 years adding immense value as is. This video is perfect you. Subscribed 😊
Talking talking ,i canot hudrtand,
Hey, dear manager Full menigs with details & send me the message,
Hi Andrew, I'm struggling to understand how exactly can I answer interview questions with this method in the 1st scenario I will give. I see 2 scenarios: 1. First time I'm telling a story in CAAR method - at what point do I bring attention to the questioned competency I'm trying to showcase my aptitude towards? Do I just zoom in into a specific step in Approach 2 part, while ignoring others to answer the question while giving the story? 2. Further questions are asked in the interview - I can reference back to the story and disect a specific part/step of it to show how I tackled some problem, etc. Thanks for your videos, they help a lot!
I was just asked this question yesterday. They asked me how would you describe your perfect role? Thank you for the preparation in the book dealing with how to think about what you want before looking for a job. Although, I hadn’t prepared for that question exactly, I had done so much prep work I was ready to breathe and give a great response.
You're welcome!
I don' know now renge salsry skell in canada,
I need 5.000 dollers one month
I hope you enjoy this lesson in creating your own role. This can be tricky but you will be prepared if you ever encounter this!!
??????? I’m 63 and on the verge of getting a job offer! My biggest concern is that if I do accept, there may be a gap in my health and dental insurance… and I’m in the middle of some dental work too. How could I negotiate getting covered for COBRA until I finish the new hire waiting period?? This is my biggest concern!!!!!
Congrats and great question!! It OKAY to let them know you have this concern. There are infinitely many ways to handle this on their end. Meaning, as a counter offer, you could request some kind of support whether that’s a sign on bonus to cover your cobra premiums or whether they simply give you a stipend each month to cover your cobra premiums. Without knowing the exact expense or how long you’ll need to go, it’s difficult for me to tell you what might be the better option. It’s OK to ask them if they can help you with this. Good luck!

Good advice
Glad you think so!
I just saw a short saying the exact opposite of what you say. So who do I listen to?
Me. Always. But. If you’d like, test both theories and make sure you have enough data points and then draw your own conclusion. I’m giving you advice from thousands of data points.
What I want to happen is a higher salary for less work plain and simple, for how much I work and as an engineer for a major company, I should be able to have a chance for a house with 2 cars but I won’t get that til 50
👍
Some feedback. I had an interview with a recruiter... This question came up and I kept it vague, "I'm assuming as this is a approved job posting and they have a range, I am flexible to work within your range, Money is of course important, but the work environment and company culture is important, But for sure I'm sure we could come to a comman agreement, I've also not interviwed for the role yet so I need more information in which to base an inteligent response ti your question" never pushed me for a number! She said words to the effect, she could get the figure for sure, she actually during her speil let slip $50/hour which would work fine for me. we'll see
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Experience, skills, patience, those are the points that younger do not have. We can learn but we have more to teach, and if a place is unable to see that, that place is the wrong one!
What about if your work increases staff and client satisfaction rates and therefore retention? Is that still $$$?
Focus on the retention number and if you know what the retention translates into in terms of more revenue for the company (that is the longer the customer stays the more income that is for the company) put that in too!
This is so so so good!!!!! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Employment implies there was a mutual _honest_ agreement, the employee can immediately tell you who precisely their employer is, a specific job description was presented, the option to accept/decline was present, coercion was absent, the managers/bosses are known and available, there is a complaint process and one can complain without fear of reprisal, the wage is at or above minimum for the region, the pay is weekly/bi-weekly, there is a paystub, whether paper or electronic showing hours worked, wages and deductions. In absence of these it isn't legitimate employment it's clearly a different situation, typically an illegal, immoral, unethical one.
Ok. but what phrases do I use
There's no retrospective reason (or "plan") that HAD to happen "that way". There's just your response of what happens, and your appreciation of where you are vs. where you were.
Thanks Andy for sharing the most efficient way to spend our time on the job search. I think most of us default to the opposite - making sure everything is pristine before making contacts.
Very welcome!! 🙏
Panel interviews are bs
Great advice. Nowadays many companies force applicants to put a number on the application form online as “Desired salary”. What’s your advice on those cases?
Just out something near what you’re used to earning. Also, I have a more recent video on this subject. Similar name. But it was released a few years after this one. I cover your question in there!
Applying for a sales account executive at Fisher investments and I'm really worried! They said no experience needed and while I have no actual job experience in sales I run my own business which I feel confident is more than qualifying. I found your videos and I just have to say I really appreciate what you're doing, as someone who's young and never learned this important information I want to tell you you're making a huge difference for people. Once I can afford it I'll be a boot camper!
I used to get contacted on linkedin by recruiters. I changed my profile. I put im the director of my own business ( also i have a full time job) and they have not contacted me anymore. It is a bad idea to put my bussiness there?.
That will typically hurt you. It looks like you have two full time jobs. Plus, they worry you will moonlight if you join their organization.
What about conflict? i think you also need an answer to "Tell me about a time you had conflict at work, and how did you resolve it?"
Good one.
Thank you Andrew! I have been told to leave off job experience which goes back too far, even if it's relevant. I have done what you're recommending. Appreciated.
It's it's way back, pull off the years and put it under a section titled Additional Experience!
@andylacivita it's 1990 - 2010 same company but different advanced roles
These videos are so informative, it's unreal
Glad they’re helping you!!
"How much money would you like to make?" - Let's have a conversation, and see how it goes, I'm sure that as we get to know each other the numbers will fall into place.
Love it.
"I'm very passionate about frozen yogurt"
How i see it, for whatever reason is (you'll probably never know ) you didn't get the job. Bottom line, it wasn't meant to be so eff them its their loss. Nobody wants to be where they're not wanted. You go on a second and third interview only so they could take your feelings to the top and let them drop. After a few rejections learn to develop a callous over the feeling of rejection because that employer don't give a $hit!
That’s certainly one approach!
